October 21st, 2017 – Marietta, Ohio
After searching for each other for more than 25 years we are now happy to announce that we will celebrate our wedding together on
October 21st, 2017
We met on March 16, 2014 on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean on the Carnival Valor Cruise Ship. This was my first cruise and John’s fourteenth. The ship ported out of San Juan Puerto Rico. It was a seven-day cruise traveling to St. Thomas, St. Lucia, St Kitts, Barbados, and St. Maarten. On the first day of the cruise we attended a social event held in the Step Lively Lounge.
We were introduced to each other by Domingo Ramirez, another fellow cruiser, and friend of John’s. Domingo will be John’s Best Man. We started talking and decided we should sit together at dinner that night. We greatly enjoyed each other’s company. We spent the next six days together exploring the ports, sunbathing and having dinner each night. I remember dragging John all over the city in St. Lucia searching for a souvenir. We only had about 20 minutes and we ran through the city frantically looking for a t-shirt or a seashell. We finally found an old, dilapidated warehouse with a few vendors. It was a rushed, frightening and unnecessary venture that John gladly took with me without a single complaint. He was such a good sport about the whole thing that I began to realize he was a pretty great guy.
At the end of the seven days we accompanied each other to the airport and said that we would definitely keep in touch. I had my doubts that this relationship would last especially since we live over 1,000 miles from each other. But, it definitely has!!! And it has been the best three years ever!!! John and I love to travel and we have definitely done our share of traveling in this relationship. We have traveled over 148,285 miles to see each other. This equates to traveling around the planet 5.9 times!!!! We have taken 5 cruises together, visited a total of 11 countries, 17 states and over 180 cities. We have also skyped for over 2,400 hours on the computer!!
In the past three years John and I have experienced some amazing trips and adventures and we have had so much fun. We love doing new things – like mountain climbing. We have climbed a total of 6 fourteeners together. A fourteener is a mountain peak in the Rockies that is over 14,000 feet high. There are a total of 53 fourteeners in the state of Colorado. So, we are off to a good start. I know that John has greatly enjoyed showing me the beautiful and sometimes harsh state of Colorado. We have explored so many beautiful places. In May 2016 we drove to Colorado with Hudson and Quinsie. We had so much fun hiking with them. We visited Estes Park and the Stanley Hotel as well as Breckenridge and Rocky Mountain National Park. We plan to take them out again this year.
I have enjoyed turning John into a diehard college football fan. Let’s face it…..there is no real college football in Colorado. But, John is now a fan of College Game Day. He now knows the name “Woody Hayes” and he frequently tries to avoid words that contain the letter “M”!! John has been to four Ohio State games at the Shoe and one away game when the Buckeyes traveled to Norman, Oklahoma last September. He also went to his first Bowl game in January. The game was a real disappointment, but we enjoyed visiting Arizona.
I am the only child of Cliff and Georgia Richie. I grew up in Gallipolis, Ohio, along the beautiful Ohio River. As a child, I loved spending time on or near the water. Boating and swimming were two of my favorite pastimes. I also enjoyed watching the sternwheelers go by our house. Each year a number of historic boats, such as the Delta Queen and the West Virginia Bell, would travel down the river. Many times they would be playing organ music as they passed by our house. As a young child, I spent a lot of time on my grandparents’ farm…
Son of Raymond and Karen Mosher, I was born 2nd of 4 children. Older brother Michael Mosher and 2 younger sisters, Kristine Hayes and Deanna Wine. Raised in beautiful Denver Colorado spending so much of my youth in the mountains. It seemed like almost every weekend the entire family jumped into the station wagon and off to the hills we went. Most times it was just a family drive somewhere but other times it was a weekend fishing and camping. My father was a miner and he had a passion for the mountains and…
Quote from the Bride: “Over the past 35 plus years, almost every fun memory I have includes at least one of you. Each of you are simply remarkable and you have enriched my life in so many ways. I love you guys!!“
Matron of Honor and Friend of the Bride
Kelley and I grew up less than a mile from each other. We have been friends for over forty years. We were majorettes in high school. Kelley got her driver’s license before anyone else and I became a permanent stunt passenger in her car. We attended Rio Grande College together and continued to stay in touch as the distance between us grew when she and Joe moved to Florida in 1997. Over the past fifteen plus years Kelley and I have traveled all over the state of Florida, including a fun-filled girls’ trip to Key West. Kelley is an amazing friend. She has always been there for me in good times and bad. She has been a shoulder to cry on and a source of great support for me for as long as I can remember.
Bridesmaid and Friend of the Bride
Beth and I attended law school at Capital University. During school we created a fun (and sometimes dysfunctional) group of guy friends to hang out with and we hung out practically every single day for about 10 years. We have traveled extensively, attended football games and other sporting events. We have attended many concerts and festivals and we rang in the New Year of 2000 at Pleasure Island with Hootie and the Blowfish and the B52s. We have traveled to Florida, Las Vegas, Chicago and many other places. In November 2000, Beth and I traveled to Europe. We went to England, Wales and Scotland and had an incredible couple of weeks. I came home needing to develop 32 rolls of film. We had such a wonderful time. Beth and I also share a genuine love and compassion for animals and we have organized many fundraising events together. Beth is a genuinely kind and giving person. She has always been one of my very best friends. No matter how many years go by, when we get together we always recall stories of our decade of craziness and we laugh hysterically. Those memories we share are some of the best times of my life.
Bridesmaid and Friend of the Bride
Jenny and I also grew up together. Her house was just over the hill from mine. Surprisingly we never tried to make the walk. Jenny and I were probably together every day after school from the 7th grade until we graduated. We spent many afternoons at her mother’s clothing store in downtown Gallipolis. I loved that store. We had so much fun there. We participated in many after school activities together and even went out for a sport as a dare. Jenny ran track and I played basketball. We were terrible, but neither of us quit, there was too much $$ riding on it. Summers were always spent at Jenny’s cause she had the pool and our summers were always filled with great memories. Our education took us in different directions but we have always remained close. We visited each other at school and I stayed with Jenny during a summer that she spent at Ohio State. It seems that no matter how much time passes, we will always be those two wide-eyed, adventurous, fun-loving, crazy freckled face best friends. She has always been a part of my life and I think we know just about everything there is to know about each other. Jenny has been one of my dearest friends for almost 40 years.
Bridesmaid and Friend of the Bride
Dianne and I met through mutual friends in 1999. Our mutual friends had formed a Do It Yourself Organization of Professional Women who support each other and help each other find “Mr. Right.” Dianne and I never had great successes while in this group. But, many of our failures were hysterical. We definitely bonded through our mutual funny experiences. We also share a love of fitness and we have been “work out” buddies since we met. Dianne introduced me to Yoga. I have spent many 4th of July Holidays with Dianne and Richard in their house in the village. I also see them every Saturday morning in the fall during the greatest season on earth – College Football Season. Go Bucks! Over the years, she and I have shared countless stories of our dates, our family and our dreams. Dianne has been my confidant and barometer of sincerity. She is very authentic, kind and generous and I am truly lucky to have her as my friend.
Bridesmaid and Friend of the Bride
Lee and I met through our mutual friendship with Kelley and I instantly bonded with her. We are so much alike and every time we get together amazing things happen. Here are a few highlights…..We partied with Robert Plant in Key West. We found ourselves in the Dallas Cowboys Field Box during the NCAA National Championship Game in 2014. We managed an appearance on the jumbo-tron during the game and we met some amazing celebrities and athletes. In November 2016, Lee flew to NYC to help me look for my wedding dress. We had three straight days of appointments (including one at Kleinfeld Bridal) dashing through Manhattan. We had so much fun and, of course, we found The Dress!! She was so supportive and wonderful – as she has always been. It is impossible not to have fun with Lee and the two of us have enjoyed some amazing times. She is always there when you need someone and she is a truly amazing person who I have been lucky enough to know for over 20 years.
Quote from the Groom: “Over the past few years, I have met these great guys. All of whom I have trust, confidence and share a deep bond in one way or another. I am so honoured to have such a great group of friends to stand with me as I marry Crystal.“
Best Man and Friend of the Groom
I met Dom on a cruise in 2009. We became instant buddies and found that we had a connection that developed into a great friendship. We can always count on each other for a good laugh. Dom and I have taken many vacations together. In 2011, I traveled to New York for the first time and Dom showed me the city. Really, we drank our way through all five boroughs. Three years ago Dom introduced me to Crystal. I consider it a privilege to have Dom stand beside me as my Best Man.
Groomsman and Friend of the Groom
Brandon is one of those kinds of people that once you meet there is an instant connection, one that you know will be a lifelong meaningful friendship. I met Brandon a few years ago when I reached out to him for his guidance with nutrition which morphed into him teaching me about more than nutrition but also fitness, cooking and overall holistic health. Brandon is the owner of the CrossFit gym where I am a member, I call it “my church” as that is where I have my community. I am excited to have Brandon stand up for me as one of my closest and trusted friends.
Groomsman and Friend of the Groom
Kyle and I met a few years ago, we both were new at a CrossFit gym and became workout partners. We became friends outside of the gym and now Kyle is currently renting my basement. The bond that I have with Kyle is deep. If it weren’t for him I truly may not be here today as he was with me the night I had my heart attack. I couldn’t think of getting married without Kyle being there with me.
Groomsman and Friend of the Groom
Matt (Mattie) has been a great friend for many years and just like Kyle we meet at our CrossFit gym and have enjoyed a strong bond outside of the gym as well. Mattie is someone that I can call up at any time and know that he would be there for me (as long as he is not DJing somewhere or competing in a beard contest). I am so very happy to have Mattie as my friend and am proud to have him stand up for me as I marry Crystal.
Groomsman and Friend of the Bride
Ron and I (Crystal) met in 1991 while working together at a local restaurant. At that time, Ron was only sixteen years old and I was just slightly older. We became great friends and travel buddies. Ron was always included on my February birthday trips with Beth and others. These trips were always so much fun. In 1997, Ron and I took a trip to Las Vegas and California to visit our families. During that trip we managed a VIP tour of Disney Land, where we were on the movie set of the Lost World. We also wandered through Steven Spielberg’s office and attended a taping of the Price Is Right. Ron’s name was called as one of the first four contestants and he won his way on stage during the show. He even ended up in the Showcase Showdown. Unfortunately, he was not the best bidder and, despite having won his way to the showcases, the only prize he took home was the scuba gear he won to get out of contestant’s row. What an amazing trip!! Ron and I have experienced over two decades of great memories and fun. Ron is a wonderful person who always makes his friendships a priority and I am so very lucky to have been one of his good friends for the past twenty six years.
Singers during the Ceremony
Friend of the Bride
Todd and I (Crystal) met about four years ago. I work with Todd’s wife, Lisa, at the Ohio Attorney General’s office. We are both attorneys in the Workers’ Compensation Section. In 2013, Todd was a finalist in a contest in Nashville, Tennessee called, “American County Star.” Lorrie Carter Bennett (Johnny Cash’s Niece) was a judge. There were 4,000 contestants and Todd finished in the Top 15!! In 2008, he entered a contest in Los Angeles called “Best New Talent,” which included voice talent from all over the county in a variety of categories. Todd won 1st place in the “Voice Over” Category. He accepted his award in a formal gathering held at the former Kodak Theatre. Todd has an amazing voice and is an extremely talented individual. John and I are so pleased that he has agreed to sing during our ceremony. As I have gotten to know Todd and Lisa over the years, I have always been inspired by their marriage and their commitment to each other. They truly share an unbreakable bond. They give each other strength and support and they are truly each other’s best friend. Such a great example of Happily Ever After!!
